A practice with the Institut Quality Seal has demonstrated that it meets the scientific quality standards of the institute for digital implantology: 3D diagnostics, guided insertion, transparent cost breakdown and active support for second opinions.
The seal is not a treatment guarantee and does not replace individual consultation. It is an orientation tool for patients seeking an evidence-based practice.
What the seal means for practices
The Institut Quality Seal is an independent quality signal to patients. Certified practices may use the seal on their website, in patient information and in marketing materials.
Certification is free and awarded exclusively according to professional criteria. A cooperation relationship with the institute is not a prerequisite.
The 10 Assessment Criteria
The criteria catalogue distinguishes between mandatory criteria (all must be met) and quality criteria (at least 2 of 3 must be met).
3D Diagnostics as Standard
MandatoryDVT/CBCT diagnostics are an integral part of the implant planning workflow. No implant insertion without preoperative 3D imaging.
Guided Implantology
MandatoryComputer-assisted implant insertion with a 3D-planned surgical guide is established and documented for standard cases.
Documented Digital Workflow
MandatoryThe complete digital treatment pathway (scan → planning → fabrication → insertion) is documented in writing and traceable for patients.
Transparent Cost Breakdown
MandatoryTreatment and cost plans contain a complete itemised breakdown. Lump sums without individual items are not used.
Written Warranty Terms
MandatoryClear, written warranty conditions exist for implants and superstructures, provided to patients before treatment begins.
Active Second Opinion Support
MandatoryThe practice actively supports the right to a second opinion and communicates this without time pressure.
Established Implant System
MandatoryOnly implant systems with documented long-term data (≥ 10 years) and CE marking are used.
Intraoral Scan Integration
QualityDigital impressions using an intraoral scanner are established for prosthetic restorations. Conventional impressions only when clinically indicated.
CAD/CAM Fabrication
QualityProsthetic restorations are predominantly fabricated digitally (CAD/CAM). The fabrication process is documented and quality-assured.

The application process is free for practices and completely digital. Processing time is typically 4–6 weeks.

The practice completes the institute's self-assessment form, describing their digital workflow, systems used and quality assurance measures.
Document Review
The institute reviews the submitted documents (workflow documentation, system details, warranty terms) against the defined criteria.
Expert Discussion
If the document review is positive, a structured expert discussion takes place between the institute and the practice.
Certification Decision
The institute decides on the award of the quality seal based on all available information. The decision is communicated in writing.
Seal Award & Listing
Certified practices receive the institute quality seal for use on their website and are listed in the institute's seal directory.
