Häufige Fragen (FAQ)

Austrian statutory health insurance (ÖGK, BVAEB, etc.) covers: routine examinations (1x/year), simple fillings (amalgam/composite), X-rays, tooth extractions, root canal treatments (limited), dental replacement at insurance rates (partial subsidy). Not covered: implants themselves, ceramic/zirconium restorations above insurance standard, bleaching, veneers, orthodontics (adults).
The health insurance subsidy for dental replacement in Austria ranges from 50% to 80% of the insurance rate — not the actual invoice amount. Since the insurance rate is usually significantly below market price, the effective patient cost is often high. Request the subsidy statement in your HKP.
No. The implant itself (titanium body) is not covered by Austrian health insurance. The crown on the implant is subsidized at the same insurance rate as conventional dental replacement. Bone augmentation procedures are also not covered.
Yes. Private dental supplemental insurance (e.g., UNIQA, Wiener Städtische, Generali) covers 50–100% of patient costs depending on the plan for dental replacement, implants, and orthodontics. Important: enroll before treatment begins, observe waiting periods (usually 3–6 months).
