An intraoral scan is a digital impression procedure in which a small handheld scanner is guided into the mouth and creates a precise 3D model of your teeth within minutes. It replaces the traditional impression tray and impression material.

Yes. Modern intraoral scanners achieve accuracy of under 20 micrometers. Traditional alginate impressions can have inaccuracies of up to 100 micrometers due to distortion during removal or transport. For implant crowns and veneers, the digital method is superior.
